When to See an Emergency Dentist
Some dental problems should not wait for a routine check-up. Please call us straight away if you have severe or throbbing toothache, a cracked, chipped or knocked-out tooth, a lost filling or crown, swelling of the face or gums, bleeding that will not stop, or pain after a recent extraction.
If a permanent tooth has been knocked out, pick it up by the crown, rinse it gently in milk and, if possible, place it back into the socket or keep it in milk, then call us immediately. Acting within the first hour gives the tooth the best chance of being saved.
If you have swelling that affects your breathing, swallowing or eyesight, go to A&E or call 999.
Your Emergency Appointment in Littleover
We offer emergency appointments for both existing and new patients. At your appointment the dentist will examine the problem, take an X-ray if needed and explain your options clearly before any treatment starts.
Our first aim is to get you out of pain. Where possible we treat the problem on the same visit, for example by dressing a painful tooth, starting root canal treatment, repairing a broken filling or carrying out an extraction. If more work is needed, we will book a follow-up appointment and give you a written treatment plan.
We understand that dental pain can be stressful, and our team will always take extra care if you are a nervous patient.
Emergency Dental Appointment Costs and Out-of-Hours Help
An in-house emergency appointment for registered patients is £63. A new patient emergency consultation is £114, plus the cost of any treatment you choose to go ahead with. Full prices are listed in our fee guide.
Our practice is open Monday to Friday, 8:15am to 5:15pm. Outside these hours, Denplan patients with supplementary insurance can call 0800 844 999, private patients can call 0330 175 9995 and NHS patients should call 111.
